Girls and Women's Cricket
If you or a family member are keen to play, coach, or support the female game we warmly invite you to get in contact with us.
We currently have all-girls cricket teams in entry level hardball and softball grades, alongside female players in Intermediate and College grade cricket. Scroll down for match reports and a gallery from the 2023/24 season.
Girls Club games
Western Bay of Plenty Cricket launched all-girls grades of Junior Cricket for the first time in 2023/24. If you are interested at any stage of the summer, please e-mail us on mmjc.membership@gmail.com and we will connect you with a team.
Full details of the Junior Girls softball and hardball grades are available on the Western Bay of Plenty Cricket Association website.
For the 2024/25 season, WBOPCA has also launched a Facebook group to connect and grow the local female cricket community.
Development
The avenues for girls to transition into the realm of representative and professional women's cricket are poised to flourish in the coming years. 2023 saw the first ever Women's Premier League in India, and closer to home we are big fans of the Northern Brave and the White Ferns. Northern Districts have some strong development pathways.
